SUMMARY

Embark on a flavorful journey as we guide you through one of Medellín’s most traditional indoor markets, starting at the Metroplus Minorista station next to the Plaza. During this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to taste around 10 exotic fruits that you’ve likely never encountered before—not just your typical mangos and pineapples!

We’ll introduce you to some of the vendors and share insights about the benefits of each fruit, including how to identify their ripeness and quality. Additionally, you’ll learn about the cultivation and processes that bring these fruits to the market, fostering a connection with the vendors who play a crucial role in this journey. To wrap up, you can relax at Don Rigo’s “smoothie bar” and enjoy a refreshing fruit juice or smoothie. Join us for this delicious adventure, and remember to come hungry!

ITINERARY

The meeting point is at the main entrance of the central wholesale market, right outside the Metro Plus station of the same name: Minorista.

We will start by tasting fruits that are native to Colombia and are grown year-round, such as tree tomato (tomate de árbol), guava, and lulo.

Next, we will move on to other fruits that, while also cultivated year-round, are more exotic, including dragon fruit (pitahaya), carob (algarroba), borojó, and cherimoya.

Following that, we will taste cape gooseberry (uchuva), Spanish lime (mamoncillo), sapote, and mango—which, although not listed here, will be available for tasting on the day of the tour.

The experience concludes with the passion fruit family, including maracuyá and granadilla.
